Grafton VIEW Club celebrated a memorable & fun-filled 51st birthday on November 2nd at the Grafton District Services Club. VIEW belongs to a unique organisation; a charity to help disadvantaged children to get the most out of their education, so that they can create better futures for themselves.
Let’s extend this celebration to further friendship! It is just a simple, but rewarding pleasure to share a meal each month with women of all ages. At the same time, you listen to a guest speaker, who will enlighten, entertain & perhaps enlarge the perception of what it is to participate as an active community citizen, locally & nationally. These meetings are an occasion where friendships can be cultivated & maintained for a lifetime.
At the birthday luncheon, the National Counsellor, Lesley Carroll, & Zone Counsellor, Elizabeth Birch, spoke to those present. At this time, “Thirty Year Membership Badges” were awarded to Margaret Milgate & Elaine Stephenson.
Entertainment followed with John Bell bringing back memories with swingalong music from the 60’s & 70’s era. His rendition of Neil Diamond favourites, including “Sweet Caroline”, stirred up the audience to heartily participate.
Amid all the antics, the Jacaranda Party arrived to partake in greeting all a happy 51st birthday. Birthday cakes were shared around the beautifully decorated tables.
A surprise fashion parade followed, with members strutting out to show off really lovely clothes from the Cathedral Op Shop.
There were many Tombola prizes distributed to gleeful winners, as well as Lucky Door prizes.
The Main Raffle, with amazing prizes, such as a microwave oven, went to the following people.
1.Went to Joan Ingram, 2. Kay Lawson, 3. Gail Brotherson, 4. Jan Gillett, 5. Helen Templeton, 6. Greg Chaffey, 7. Olivene Shoebridge, 8. Carol Smith, 9. John White, 10. Elizabeth Wallace, 11. Mary Rowe, 12. Judy Maguire, 13. Val Chalker, 14. Elizabeth Birch, 15. Marianne Kavanagh, 16. Tom Cashel.
